WE CARE ABOUT WHERE OUR PRODUCE COMES FROM, HOW IT HAS BEEN FARMED AND WHAT KIND OF TECHNIQUES ARE USED. EVERY ANIMAL THAT COMES THROUGH THE DOOR HAS BEEN HUMANELY RAISED, ETHICALLY TREATED, AND NATURALLY GROWN. ANIMAL WELLBEING IS OF THE UPMOST IMPORTANCE TO US, BEING AWARE OF EVERY STEP OF THE FARMING PROCESS AND HAVING A PERSONAL CONNECTION TO THE PRODUCERS, IS A SURE WAY TO GUARANTEE QUALITY PRODUCE. 

THE BEEF WE USE IS GRASS FED AND THE CHICKEN WE USE IS FREE RANGE, NOT TREATED WITH HORMONES OR BLEACHED (YES THIS IS A REAL THING) DURING THE CLEANING PROCESS. OUR BEEF PATTIES ARE MADE WITH INTERCOSTAL, SHORT RIB AND BRISKET CUTS. THIS BLEND HAS BEEN PAINSTAKINGLY CURATED BY CHEF RIC SO YOU GET THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF JUICE, FLAVOUR AND HOLY-S*IT-DANCE-IN-MY-MOUTH-NESS.  

THE BACON WE USE IS BERKSHIRE PORK, THAT HAS BEEN MASSAGED BY HUMAN HANDS (YES YOU READ THAT) TO ENSURE THE MEAT IS AS TENDER AS IT CAN BE WHEN IT HITS YOUR TASTE BUDS. THE PORK IS CURED, THEN COLD SMOKED AND WE ONLY SERVE FEMALE PIGS AS THEY PRODUCE A SWEETER MEAT. THIS IS IMPORTANT TO US AS MOST COMMERCIAL PORK IS PUMPED WITH SULPHIDES, SALT AND OTHER SHIT THAT MAKES THE PRODUCT LOOK PLUMPER AND GIVES IT A LONGER SHELF LIFE. A LOT OF THE CHEMICALS USED TO “SMOKE” BACON CAUSE A CARCINOGENIC EFFECT (READ CANCER) IN THE BODY AND WE DON’T WANT THAT FOR YOU. 

OUR EGGS ARE FROM FARMS WHO HAVE LESS THAN 30 HENS PER HECTARE (AS OPPOSED TO 10,000 HENS PER HECTARE) AND ARE PROPER FREE RANGE. LIKE THE TYPE OF FREE RANGE, YOU IMAGINE. THEY EAT WORMS AND BUGS AND GRASS AND LIVE A HAPPY LIFE.

Kat has 10+ years in the events industry and has managed it all from million dollar 1st birthday parties (yes, you read that right), to The Birdcage marquees, fashion shows, the most beautiful kitsch weddings as well as enough boring corporate seminars etc. to poke a stick at. She is also a Naturopathic Nutritionist who believes food is not just delicious, but also has so much power to heal. 

Chef Ric has been in the food industry his whole life but working as a chef for 16 years. His experience ranges from fine dining and large-scale banqueting, to café owner/operator. His passion for food is beyond what anyone would call normal and when he is not cooking food, he’s eating it or dreaming about it.

 

To make a long story short, Kat + Ric LOVE food and believe life should only be filled with things you love. Slicks is their baby and their opportunity to leave the world a little better than how they found it.
